July 20th, 2011 by Expeditions NW

Our Marine Wildlife Excursion explored the waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca on July 27.  The 5 hour journey through the Strait of Juan de Fuca was magical and nature provided passengers and crew the opportunity to view the orcas that make home to these waters.

Here are a few comments from our passengers:

“Great Cruise!! Very Professional crew…Fine Food!”

“Lunch with ‘J’ pod…..Fabulous!”

“It was a relaxing trip…Friday the orcas made it worth the trip…”

Marine Wildlife Excursion – July 27

July 13th, 2011 by Expeditions NW

Discover a rich and diverse environment full of marine wildlife in the nutrient rich waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and off the San Juan Islands during our Marine Wildlife Excursion.

Orca by Julie Lawrence

These waters include the popular Orca whales, commonly called killer whales, they are recognized by their tall black triangular fins and can be seen traveling in groups called pods. Their diet can range from seals while some orcas eat only fish and follow the salmon runs into the Strait and Puget Sound.

Gray whales frequent these waters in the summer and fall and they can be spotted by their ‘blows’ of salt spray as they surface for air. Gray whales diet includes small shrimp and worms they suction off the soft sediments near the shores.

Humpback and Minke whales have also been seen in the water of the Strait. For daily whale sightings check out Orca Network.

Keep a lookout for the resident harbor seals and sea lions populations that can be found all along our rocky shores…you may even spot one checking you out as you ride the EXPEDITIONS.

Call today and place your reservation for July 27th. Be sure to show up at 10:00 am and plan to share an adventure with friends and family – 360-452-6210.
